People

For photo number six, I chose to shoot pictures of people. Many of the pictures were not taken this week but the featured photo is. It was kind of hard to shoot pictures of people because in order to capture their personality in the picture I would have to catch them off guard. For the picture below, we were coming home from my grandparents' house and I was trying to take pictures of him-without the flash. When those pictures turned out badly I resorted to using the flash and the picture actually turned out better than I thought it would.

NATURE

For photo number five I chose to shoot pictures of nature. I took many of pictures of smaller things and a lot of them turned out blurry even though I had it in the macro setting. This left me with only half of my pictures to choose from, but they are all good. Many of my pictures are of flowers because they are the only thing I could take pictures of. My feature photo is  of mushrooms obviously but i don't really like it. I think it is unique and cool but it doesn't appeal to me.

Portrait Assignment

In this assignment we had to take pictures with natural and artificial lighting. I used Miranda Lessner as a photo subject. For the natural light we stood next to a window or place of light and used a piece of poster board to reflect light on the other side of our faces (right photo). For the other picture we used a series of lights to illuminate our faces. There was a bright light on our right, a smaller light to our left, a light behind us to create a "halo" effect and lastly there was a light behind the background making it brighter (left photo). I think this will help me later when i want to take pictures of people and light isn't very available.

My TOP Nine

These are my top nine pictures in no particular order. I have many favorites but many have already been used other places so these are the one's that haven't been showcased. Enjoy.

These are pink flowers in my garden. I don't know the name as of the moment but they smell really good.

These jars contain different sand and/or rocks from beaches and places we have visited. This picture was actually taken for Macro but it did not seem appropriate to put in the post but it is still cool.

My Eye. Hazel. Thick Lashes. Purple Liner. Cool Reflection. Very Expressive.

I love, love, LOVE this photo. I used an aperture that would create a large depth-of-field and I'm pleased with how it turned out. The color pops, flower looks tall and its just pretty. The only thing I wish I could change is the ISO setting-I would have made it lower if i realized it would make so much noise.

I really like this picture because of the perspective. This was actually my fourth shot of this man hole since my first three were blurred and too dark. I had to use the lowest shutter speed I could-15seconds-and it was hard not to move the camera.

I am not sure if the plant looks bigger or smaller than it actually is but I guess that is up to the eye. I think that this little green plant is cute and the water makes the photo more appealing

Cluster of small flowers. Again I wish the ISO was lower but i think the overall picture is nice looking and would be a nice touch to a catalog for gardeners.

Is this a daisy or what? I'm not good with flower names but I was walking around my neighborhood taking pictures of whatever flowers looked good. The only thing that is annoying my is the fact that the tip of the top petal is cut off.

MOSEY POSEY. Mozart Pozart. Mosey-Kitty. He has many names but only on personality. Lazy and tempermental.

Well I hope you liked these pictures, I certanly do. Leave a comment. Ask for more. But please ask before you take or copy.

School Context

For this assignment we were told to take a picture of a well known place in school.  Then to change it by adding things it to it that would be out of place. For my assignment, I took a picture of the loft area above the side doors. At first a was going to make it look like a bedroom but when I started running out of time I had to think of something easier, so i added my sister in. The only thing I wish I could have done better was to make the tree look like it was coming out of the ground instead of just sitting there.

Shadow Project

For photo number four I chose to shoot pictures of interesting shadows. It was kind of challenging to find shadows that would be interesting to look at and I ended up using photos I had taken previous to the assignment. The picture I picked to showcase is a of a mirror hanging at the bottom of a stair case. It was in a room with lot windows which meant a lot of shadows and they were all reflected in the mirror. I thought it was cool so I snapped a picture of it.

Motion Blur

Motion Blur is when you make the subject of a picture in focus and the background is blurred since they are moving. This may seem easy but it's not that easy--it's not hard it's just not easy. For this picture Mr. Bush brought his bike into class so pictures could be taken of it. We had to focus the picture beforehand and then follow Mr. Bush on his bike while we were taking the picture, so in other words panning. Out of the seven pictures I took only one turned out well, here it is.

Animales! Animals!

Third Photo! For this assignment I chose to take pictures of animals although I didn't take any of them this week. When we first got these assignments I just started to make folders for everything because I need to be organized. So whenever I took a picture of an animal I just popped it into its folder. For this picture I was sitting next to my cat and just started taking pictures. I didn't take many but the ones I took turned out pretty well and I liked the way my cat looked bored. It was challenging because in order to get a good exposure I had to use a slow shutter speed and he kept moving.

BLACK 'N WHITE

This was the second photo assignment of the year and I chose to do black and white. For these photos, I took them in color and used editing tools to turn them to black and white. My best photo looked good in color but when I put in black and white it looked good too. This assignment helped me to learn that sometimes if you have shades of black and white instead of color it really makes a photo more attractive.
